Aji-Mallen Sanneh

Aji-Mallen Sanneh is a Gambian-American global health leader and sports entrepreneur, merging health and sports as a dynamic force to drive social development impact for youth.

Over the past fifteen years, Aji has worked across more than 50 countries in various sectors, from clinical to government roles, securing funding to enhance screening, diagnostics, and treatment in low- and middle-income countries. She has served as the Senior Director for Global Engagement with the American Society for Clinical Pathology and in Partnerships and Policy at the $4 billion-a-year organization, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. Aji’s career is marked by her commitment to improving the health of underserved communities, particularly children, youth, and women, earning her recognition as a trusted leader in the health space.

Expanding her dedication to healthier communities, Aji ventured into the intersection of health and sports. She co-founded Altimate Sports Group, a boutique agency devoted to nurturing the next wave of athletic talent. Additionally, she owns Soccer Stars North Dallas, a youth sports franchise teaching soccer fundamentals in a fun and non-competitive environment. To ensure that soccer/football is accessible to all, Soccer Stars also offer specialized programs for girls and children with special needs, encouraging them to grow as confident athletes and, more importantly, as individuals. At the forefront of Aji’s mission is an unwavering commitment to empowering and advocating for underrepresented talent that warrants global recognition.

Aji’s work extends beyond the soccer/football field into the arena of social responsibility, and partnership strategy. Her distinctive approach integrates health and societal inclusion, setting a new standard in the sports industry. She advocates passionately for development programs focusing on women’s and girls’ growth, social inclusion, and gender equality.

Aji obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science from York University in Canada and holds a joint Master of Science in Health Policy, Planning & Financing from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in the UK.

Away from her professional and academic pursuits, Aji enjoys life’s simple joys—spending quality time with her husband and son. Her love for sports and travel is constant, and she is an avid reader and writer. Driven by a constant desire for knowledge, Aji is always exploring new paths for personal and professional growth and enrichment.
